Synthese und Molekülstruktur neuer Ringsysteme aus 1,1,3,3-Tetrachlor-1,3-diphosphapropan

Synthesis and Molecular Structure of new Ring Systems from 1,1,3,3-Tetrachloro-1,3-diphosphapropane 1,1,3,3-Tetrachloro-1,3-diphosphapropane 1 reacts in two different ways to form new heterocycles. Partial oxidation of 1 with tetrachloroorthobenzoquinone furnishes the methylene-bridged λ³P, λ⁵P species 3 . Subsequent reactions with di- and triethylamine lead to the condensed ring system 6 with the P?C bonds connected to a central four-membered ring. Compound 6 displays crystallographic inversion symmetry, a short transannular P? P distance and an extremely distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry at the four-membered ring phosphorus atoms. 1 reacts with 7 to give the heterocycle 8 with a central eight-membered ring involving four phosphorus atoms. The eight – membered ring shows a ?bent”? crown conformation, the condensed five – membered rings display envelope conformation.     

Stille Cross‐Coupling of a Racemic Planar‐Chiral Ferrocene and Crystallographic Trace Analysis of Catalysis Intermediates and By‐products

A pressure‐controlled procedure for the S_N1 reaction of rac‐1‐[(dimethylamino)methyl]‐2‐(tributylstannyl)ferrocene ( 1 ) to rac‐1‐(phthalimidomethyl)‐2‐(tributylstannyl)ferrocene ( 2 ) was developed. Pd⁰‐Catalyzed Stille coupling of 2 with iodobenzene afforded rac‐1‐phenyl‐2‐(N‐phthalimidomethyl)ferrocene ( 5 ) in 74% yield; after trace enrichment by crystallization of the combined mother liquors, one single crystal of each, 5 , catalysis intermediate trans‐iodo(σ‐phenyl)bis(triphenylarsino)palladium(II) ( 7 ), trans‐diiodobis(triphenylarsino)palladium(II) ( 8 ), and rac‐2,2′‐bis(phthalimidomethyl)‐1,1′‐biferrocene ( 9 ) could be isolated by crystal sorting under a microscope and characterized by X‐ray crystal structure analysis. Furthermore, 5 was deprotected to amine ( 11 ), which does even survive the Birch reduction to rac‐1‐(aminomethyl)‐2‐(cyclohexa‐2,5‐dienyl)ferrocene ( 12 ).     

Übergangsmetall—methylen-komplexe: LXI. Übergangsmetall—vinyliden-komplexe: Neuartige synthese aus diazoalken-vorstufen

The diazoolefines of composition N₂CCR₂ (R/R = CH₃/CH₃ and(-CH₂-)₅) are suitable precursors of the corresponding vinylidene ligands CCR₂. Thus, treatment of the RhRh complex [(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Rh(μ-CO)]₂ (1) with the N-nitrosourethanes 2a and 2b, resp., in the presence of lithium t-butoxide yields the otherwise inaccessible μ-vinylidene complexes (μ-CCR₂)[(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Rh(CO)]₂ (R = CH₃ (3a), R,R = (-CH₂-)₅ (3b)). The analogous cobalt compound (μ-CCMe₂)[(η⁵-C₅Me₅)Co(CO)]₂ (5a) is obtained similarly. This procedure extends the well-documented diazoalkane method for the synthesis of μ-alkylidene complexes to the less stable diazoalkenes. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of the dimethylvinylidene derivative 3a shows the CMe₂ ligand to adopt an almost symmetrically metal-bridging position (d(RhC) 197.8(1) and 204.3(1) pm), with a rhodium-rhodium single bond completing a three-membered Rh₂C-metallacycle (d(RhRh) 268.4(0) pm) analogous with cyclopropane.     

Cis‐trans Isomerism in Copper(II) Complexes with N‐acyl Thiourea Ligands

The N‐acyl thiourea complexes bis[N,N‐diethyl‐N′‐(p‐nitrobenzoyl)‐thioureato]copper(II) ( 1a,1b ) and bis(N,N‐diphenyl‐N′‐benzoylthioureato)copper(II) ( 2a,2b ) crystallize in each case in two modifications. X‐ray structural analysis shows that 1a and 1b are cis‐trans isomers. This is very unusual for N‐acyl thioureato complexes because with exception of one platinum(II) complex up to now only cis complexes have been found. In contrast X‐ray structural analysis of both forms 2a and 2b of the other complex shows no cis‐trans pair. Both modifications are cis complexes. In solution both isomers of the copper(II) complexes are observable by EPR spectroscopy.     

Synthese d'lsosélénazoles et de benzisosélénazoles-1,2

A general preparation of the isoselenazole ring by addition of bromine followed by ammonia on cis-β–methylseleno-2-propenal is described. This reaction was successfully applied to 1,2-benz-isoselenazole, a new heterocyclic system.     

Highly porous uranyl selenate nanotubules

A first amine-templated uranyl selenate based upon highly porous uranyl selenate nanotubules, (C4H12N)14[(UO2)10(SeO4)17(H2O)], has been prepared in the room-temperature reaction of uranyl nitrate, butylamine, and H2SeO4 in aqueous solution. The structure consists of nanometer-scale tubular [(UO2)10(SeO4)17(H2O)]14- units packed in a hexagonal-type fashion. The tubules have elliptical cross section with outer dimensions of 25 x 23 A = 2.5 x 2.3 nm. The internal free crystallographic diameter of the tubules is 12.6 A = 1.26 nm, which is comparable to the effective pore size in large-pore zeolites. This finding demonstrates the possibility of nanostructures for actinides in higher oxidation states and opens up a new area of research and exploration.

Summary A method is described for the determination of alkaloids in morning glory leaves by means of spectrophotofluorimetry. The total alkaloidal contents found in different batches of leaves ranged from 0.027 to 0.04%.

Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Gesamtalkaloide in den Blättern vonIpomoea violacea wurde angegeben. Spektralfluoreszenzmessungen ergaben für verschiedene Chargen solcher Blätter Gehalte von 0,027 bis 0,04%.

Phase diagrams of nonionic foam films: new interpretation of disjoining pressure vs thickness curves

Recently we constructed phase diagrams for thin foam films stabilized by a nonionic surfactant. The idea was born by synopsis of various disjoining pressure (pi) versus thickness (h) curves of foam films resembling p-Vm isotherms of real gases. The new concept of interpreting the pi-h curves of foam films in terms of phase diagrams allows us to describe experimental observations much more precisely. Three logical consequences will be discussed here to illustrate the strength of this approach. First, the observation is explained that common black films (CBF) rupture or form a Newton black film (NBF) within a certain pressure range rather than at a defined pressure. Both observations can be rationalized by invoking a nucleation process of holes or of the thinner NBF, respectively, in close analogy to the vapor to liquid condensation. Second, the question whether the CBF to NBF transition is discrete or continuous is answered by analyzing under which conditions the supercritical state of a foam film can be reached. Third, the evidence of corresponding states is discussed.

Synthesis, Structure, and some Reactions of N-(N′,N′,N″,N″-tetramethyl)guanidinyl-substituted Phosphoryl Compounds The tetramethylguanidinyl-substituted phosphoryl compounds 1 – 10 were prepared in the reaction of the appropriate chlorophosphoryl compounds with either N′,N′,N″,N″-tetramethylguanidine (HTMG) or N-trimethylsilyl-(N′,N′,N″,N″-tetramethyl)guanidine (TMSTMG). With methyl iodide 1 reacted with N-alkylation to give the ammonium salt 11. 1 reacted with BF₃ · Et₂O at both imino nitrogen atoms with formation of the bis-BF₃-adduct 12 . The X-ray structure determination of phenylphosphonic acid-bis(N′,N′,N″,N″-tetramethylguanidinide) 3 shows shortened PN-bonds and widened PNC-angles, consistent with the partial double bond character of the PN-bond.     

Co2(CO)8 Catalyzed reaction of oxetanes with trialkylsilanes

Dicobalt octacarbonyl catalyzed silyl-hydroformylation of oxetanes can be controlled by the choice of trialkylsilane. Triethylsilane gives 1,4-$\text{bis}$-silyl ethers while $\text{t}$-butyl-dimethylsilane yields silyl enol ethers.
